Heeeeeey friends! I am getting so dang excited to meet you all - and looking forward to "meeting your voices" this Tuesday evening! :-) Thanks to everyone for sharing such great info about yourself and for offering your expectations for the trip too. God has beautiful things in store for us.
One quick question for you all - Do any of you have any special skill in construction or other special skills that might be helpful? You might think about those things you would be able to teach someone younger than you. Have you taught kids how to swim? Could you teach someone how to play an instrument? Have you spent time with a parent or other relative building a house or making repairs? Let me know!
And random info - Please remember that anything you post here can be seen by anyone. This makes it a GREAT site to share with people who want to follow along with the trip prep and our reflections afterwards! But it also means that you may want to be sensitive about what you post for everyone to read. (That's why phone numbers aren't posted here.) Danielle got the ball rolling for prayer requests on the blog which is flipping awesome. In addition to that, please know also that we have a facebook group which is for team members and AIM staffers ONLY so if you have things you'd like to share that are more private or personal, you can post them there. Here's the link to the group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=119180764765859
Know that you are prayed for already! This was my prayer for you (and all of us) this morning (and it probably will be for awhile):
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. -- Colossians 1:9-14
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work with us, to Him be glory in the church [that's us!] and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. (Ephesians 3:20-21) Amen! :-)
