Hey y’all!  I hope you guys are getting excited.  Oh my gosh, I know I am!  The trip is coming up fast!  Here are my expectations and a bit about how I was called to this trip.

Oh boy.  What do
I expect?  Well, I expect…

God to be at work.
God to use us.
To encounter God where we’re going, not to bring God there.
God to change us.
All of us to grow together in the Lord.
Meaningful conversation, hard conversation, and confusion.
God to change our plans.
That we will all be challenged.
To learn.  A
lot.  🙂
To be blessed by the people we encounter.
And what does my call to the mission field look like?  The Lord has had me on a beautiful roller coaster these past
few years.  Until about 3 years
ago, I never really had any desire to go overseas, but after encountering
another wonderful missions organization called Word Made Flesh, the Lord began
working in my heart and growing a desire in me to be part of an international
community abroad, something I am still praying about for the coming years.

This Jamaica trip came about while I was waiting to hear
back from another opportunity I had applied for, but before I heard from them,
Connie called me about an email I had sent to AIM months earlier that I’d
totally forgotten about.  She
offered me a position which I prayed about but just did not feel called
to.  In the mean time, the other
opportunity that I had applied for fell through – they weren’t able to hire
anyone for the summer – but I still did not believe the Lord was leading me to
the AIM position I had been offered so I had to tell her no.  After I said no, though, Connie called
me back with another position – leading this trip – and everything in my spirit
confirmed that this was the opportunity the Lord had been waiting to bless me
with.  I praise God for this trip
and the way He opened doors for it, and I’m so excited to be in ministry with
you all!
